Story

Welcome to my fundraising page for the Flora 2009 London Marathon. I’m very proud to have been awarded a golden bond place by the Evelina Children's Hospital.

The Evelina Children's Hospital is part of Guys and St Thomas Hospital at Waterloo - in addition to offering routine care it serves patients from London, Southern England and much further a field for specialist care. This includes specialist intensive care for very ill children and long term care for children with heart, kidney and neurological problems. Although it may not be a charity you have heard of it is an incredibly worthy cause and its facilities are the the best in the world right here in London.

I have chosen to run for the hospital as Scarlett the second of my two girls, shortly after she was born, spent a number of weeks at the hospital in a special intensive care unit for children. Scarlett developed respiratory problems and stopped breathing.  Without the hospital, it's equipment and staff it is very unlikely that Scarlett would still be with us today.

The hospital is an amazing place. It is house in a brand new state of the art building which feels more like a hotel than a hospital. This combined with amazing staff and an ethos of caring for the whole family mean that all those who pass through it feel reassured they are getting the best possible care. Some of the equipment in the hospital, such as the ventilator needed for Scarlett, can only be found in the South East of the UK at the Evelina. It is not surprising therefore that the hospital needs funds from events like the London Marathon to keep up its high quality service.

My golden bond place means I must raise £1800. So any help support or ideas for fund raising both personal and or corporate will be gratefully accepted. Email me at dcr@stmatthewacademy.co.uk.

Please also feel free to pass this link to anyone you or I know to help boost my total

Donating through this Justgiving page is quick, easy and totally secure. It’s also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Evelina Children's Hospital Appeal gets your money faster and, if you’re a UK taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation.

Despite the big total I need to raise small donations are just as welcome as big ones as every penny helps me hit my target the children at the hospital. If you can give a few quid towards my total "we" The Cregan's and the Hospital will be very grateful as it will help them continue their great work.
