Story
"A big thank you to all those who have supported us so far to help us reach our minumum target…that doesn’t mean that you can’t continue to donate though! All your kind donations will go to CRY to help them continue the amazing work they do."
Thank you for visiting our fundraising page - the name of this page does not mean that the challenge we are taking on is going to be easy...Dave & I will be taking on this physical & mental challenge to raise money for CRY and also to raise more awareness of a devastating cause of death and the work of CRY. We will be climbing to over 4400 meters above sea level which will take around 4 days, in an environment where the potential for sickness and exhaustion are huge.
In January 2006 my younger brother Steven died suddenly at the age of 19. This completely devastated my family, and the loss I feel is immense.
CRY are an amazing charity and have been a great support to my family, they do some great work in supporting families affected by Sudden Death Syndrome and work very hard to raise money for support, research and awareness raising. For me personally and my family, they have been able to screen us for any signs of what took Steven and also arranged contact for us with leading speacialists in this field to try and help us understand what happened.
Since Steven died my soon to be wife Lisa, has been such an amazing person and has always understood how I have felt and been there for me when I've needed her, and I want to let her know that her supporting me in this means a great deal.
I would like to personally thank Dave, a good friend and work colleague, for doing this with me, it means an awful lot to have his support and for him to be putting in so much time and effort to a cause that he feels worthy of it (and Jodie, who pushed us to do this and has been great with her fund raising ideas!).
Dave and I are fundraising as a pair for this trek and our target above is a combined target.
Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to donate: Cardiac Risk in the Young will receive your money electronically and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in Gift Aid will be added to your donation at no cost to you.
Please donate generously.
Many thanks for your support.
