Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
On 21st April 2013, I ran the London Marathon in memory of my cousin, Emily. It took me 4 hours 30 minutes and 53 seconds. I hoped to get around faster, but my legs thought different on the day. The atmosphere was incredible and I wouldn't hesitate to do it all again... once my legs have had time to recover.
Emily had Type 1 Diabetes and tragically passed away in her sleep on 8th April 2012 at the age of 29. As a keen fundraiser she had taken part in running events supporting Diabetes UK and would have been running the 2013 London Marathon. Members of our family, Emily's friends and colleagues joined together to form Team Em and Me and ran the London Marathon to continue Emily's fundraising efforts and contribute further to the amount already raised since her untimely death.
The work of Diabetes UK is crucial in helping people learn how to manage their condition, funding research into the causes and methods of prevention, and ultimately working towards finding a cure.
