Story
I'm doing the Liverpool marathon on October 9th to raise money for the Anthony Walker Foundation. If that's not enough for you to donate I've also given up alchohol and cigarettes for 30 days (ending on the day of the marathon) which will be the longest period in nearly 12 years. It will be my first ever marathon and I'm hoping to pull out all the stops to do it in less than 4 hours (although I'll be happy to do it in less than 5 to be honest). You can keep up to date with my training progress here.
So please, do something good today and sponsor me. I'm getting a T-shirt pinted with all of my sponsors names on to commemorate the event - so I'll be carrying a small part of you with me on every yard of the 26.2 mile race. All proceeds go to the Anthony Walker Foundation.
Many of you will remember the tragic death of Anthony Walker, who was a Black British A-level student from Huyton, Merseyside, a Christian and a keen basketball player, was brutally murdered in a racially motivated attack on 30 July 2005 near McGoldrick Park in Huyton. It sent ripples through not just his local community but across the whole of Liverpool and received nation wide news coverage. The mission of the Anthony Walker Foundation is to promote equality and diversity through education, sport and arts events and to support law enforcement agencies and local communities to reduce hate crime and build safe cohesive communities. You can find out more about what the Foundation does by clicking here.
