Hey all,
Thanks for taking the time to visit my justgiving page.
Match for a Day is Ambassadors in Sport - South Africa's premier fundraising event. So it's time for me to attempt the ultimate football endurance event - the AIS Match for a Day (MFAD).
I get the chance to live out a childhood dream of playing in a huge stadium.... the newly erected Orlando Stadium, potentially 40,000 seated, in Soweto the home of the South African team Kaizer Chief's (see photo's). The events kick's off at 2pm on Friday 9th October with the AIS team playing the first of 24 hour long seven-a-side games... and hopefully I'll still be standing when the final whistle sounds at 2pm on Saturday 10th October.
The 3 projects that the MFAD event is raising money for are to fund:the goal to have ten academies running across South Africa by 2011. These academies will not just be Football driven, but will provide education, life skills development and moral values into South Africa’s next generations. These academies will give many disadvantaged children the opportunity to progress not just in soccer but in life. the goal to have a Hope Academy in each province as well as a unique academy for ex-prisoners who have come through the AIS Hope Academies across the country. I have been to prison a couple of times a week since I've been out here and these academy's really are working, check out this video as an example of one guy. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2cvWR5guYc0 .(or click on the video option on the side <--) Just to let you know there are plenty of other examples like that, some of the guys I have even become good friends with. and lastly, in 2010 we have been given the opportunity to bring transformation to many communities in South Africa before, during and after the World Cup in June next year, with coaching programmes and many other Football related courses.
At MFAD we raise funds in a variety of ways... one of which is through each player requesting their friends and family to give a small contribution to encourage us in our endeavour. This site offers you the perfect way to do this.
So if it is possible please donate a small amount, 5 or 10 pounds is great, but any more would be even better.
This site is all secure and all the money goes to the charity, no one will be able to see any of you details, so there is no need to worry etc,
Thanks, Dan
