Story
I am running in the Edinburgh marathon, the great North west Half marathon and over 520 miles in my 16 weeks of training. I have decided to raise funds for Mind as mental illness is something that has effected members of my family and friends.
The word illness is key, many people overlook things like depression and anxiety, but the effects these things can have on families and people is just as serious as what you would call more serious mental illness's like Dementia. Anything I can do to raise awareness and money to support people through these tough periods of their lives gives me a reason to get up and push myself to achieve a personal goal.
My wife is also a mental health Nurse and I know the tough job she has day in day out dealing with people with mental health problems - everyday is a marathon for nurses and care workers.
Hopefully this shows some appreciation to their job and raises some awareness along the way.
