A huge thanks to everyone who has sponsored me!
Thanks also to my family for their contributions - we are also raising money for the hospital ward where Nath was born. They were great with us so we thought we'd raise some money for them as well! So in reality that's over 2k raised plus gift aid.
Just got to do the tri now!!On the 14th of June 2009 I am competing in the UK Ironman 70.3 Triathlon at
Wimbleball . It's a half Ironman comprising of Swimming (1.2miles), Cycling (56 miles) and running (13.1 miles). I am doing this because we lost our son Nathaniel...
On the 18th Dec Jo, my wife, rang to say she had been bleeding and also had backache all day. The midwife told her to go to hospital. Once there we listened to Nathaniel's heart, which was strong. While we waited for a doctor to come and examine Jo her waters broke. After a few examinations we were told that the chord was prolapsed and there was no heart beat. Jo delived Nathaniel an hour later. He was 24 weeks 5 days, 1lb 8oz.
He was perfect and looked so peaceful. We kept him with us all night and most of the next day. When I held him I told myself he'd wake up. That my breathing was his. That his eyes would open and I'd look into them.
Jo's pregancy had been trouble free, she'd not been ill, nothing. So far no reason has been given. Probably never will, so the doctor said.
His funeral was on the 12th of January. I carried the coffin. The service was lovely. Jo's sister read a poem and Nathaniel was cremated. We have him now at home.
We are taking one day at a time, heart broken... my beautiful boy.
SANDS really is really helping and needs our help.
It's going to take a lot for me to finish this race. I have never done anything like this but want to challenge myself and do some good in memory of Nathaniel.
Please help me by sponsoring me and passing this page on to everyone you know.Thank you.
