In memory of Barbara Windsor
We stand for everyone affected by dementia to find a cure

Story

In December last year, we lost the inimitable Dame Barbara Windsor – a national treasure who entertained us through the decades and, in her final years, became a powerful voice for the 850,000 people living with dementia in the UK.

This page was set up at the request of Barbara’s devoted husband and Alzheimer’s Research UK Ambassador Scott Mitchell shortly after her passing, as a way for her many friends and fans to leave tributes and support the search for breakthrough dementia treatments in her memory.

Now, to thank all those people who have given so generously to the charity in her memory, Scott has decided to lace up his running shoes to take on the Virgin Money London Marathon for the charity on October 3.

It’s been two-and-a-half years since Scott last ran the iconic course through the capital, but wanted to run again to honour all those people who have given so generously to a cause close to his heart.

If you’d like to donate in memory of Dame Barbara or support Scott as he embarks on his latest 26.2-mile challenge, every penny will be gratefully received.
