CRY - Sam and Martin Cycle France 2009 · 3 March 2009
Hello!
Here's the plan...
23rd August 2009 - The cycling adventure begins. 4pm GMT we will set off on a ferry from Plymouth to Santander, Spain with 2 bikes, a small amount of equipment and an even smaller amount of underwear! Our destination; Roscoff, North France (Many, many miles away!). Blisters will come and go, as will the miles. The only element that will be constant throughout this fundraising adventure is the 2 men, their 2 bikes and their goal to raise as much money as possible for this meaningful charity.
The trip will take us through the foothills of the Spanish Pyrenees till we reach the French border. Assuming we are let into the country, we shall then hug the French coast sleeping in our 2-man tent wherever we can until we reach Southern Brittany. We will then head north east on our final push to Roscoff where there will be celebratory croissant and crepes waiting!
All donations will be going to CRY through the 'Ollie Marsden Memorial Fund'. Ollie was a great friend of ours who tragically died in October 2008 while playing rugby - a sport he loved. This is for you Ollie, keep us on the cycle paths and try to keep us off the motorways, (Sam hasn't passed his cycle proficiency test and can't take his hands off the handle bars to signal)...one more thing..."Which way to the beach?!"
We know the trip won't be easy but when the going gets tough it will be all of you at home in "sunny" Anglaterre who have supported, helped and/or sponsored us that will drive us on.
Love Martin and Sam
