It is with great pleasure that we can announce that we have finally collected all the money promised from everybody who kindly agreed to sponsor us for our Challenge 184 cycle ride. We should have named it Challenge 200 as the total mileage exceeded 200 miles!
In total we raised just over £2,169 with the monies split between the Morriston Hospital Cancer Research Fund and Everyman.
On Monday 19th July we handed over a cheque for £1,113 to Mr Bose, the Consultant who succesfully operated on us at Morriston Hosiptal. The money will support the University Trust research into Prostate Cancer. A cheque has also been posted to Everyman to cover the balance of £516.50 (Total of £1,065.50 raised for Everyman including the on line donations, excluding Gift Aid.
We would like to say a very big thank you to all who donated, the Premier Inn Llanelli, Kiln Park Tenby (both kindly hosted us for a night) and to Chepstow Rugby Club who provided a brilliant reception for us at the end of our cycle ride one dark October evening.
Above all we would like to extend our grateful thanks to all at the ABM University Health Board and the staff at Morriston hospital for their expert care.

We are undertaking a 184 mile cycle ride to raise awareness of prostate cancer and collect funds to support cancer research. Two of us, Steve Pilliner a 47 year old father of two from Bridgend and Len Bellamy a grandfather from both suffered from prostate cancer last year. Through early detection and successful treatment at the Bridgend and Morriston hospitals, both survive. Neil Evans completes the team. Neil is originally from Camarthen , a former work colleague and now a good friend of Steve’s, has a close relative suffering from cancer. On Saturday 10th October Neil and Steve will set off from St David’s in West Wales on a journey to Chepstow via the Celtic Trail cycle route. Len will join the team at various stages of the challenge. Funds raised from their efforts will be used to fund research into cancer. Proceeds will be split between the Institute of Cancer Research Everyman charity and the Prostate Cancer Research fund at . It is now the most common cancer among men, and accounts for one in four of all tumours diagnosed in men. There are more than 35,000 new cases each year and 10,000 deaths. Early referral and detection is vital as early treatment makes a huge difference. The incidence of prostate cancer is rising , your support will make a difference.
