Story
New Beginnings is a volunteer charity group run entirely by aviation staff and mainly flight attendants. Our work is purely charitable and completely voluntary, and we are supported by our colleagues, families and friends.
Members of our group personally source and collect all of our donations from generous donors and supporters. These donations are then delivered directly to charities, NGOs, schools, hospitals, children’s homes, orphanages, birthing centres, outreach programs and crèches across the international destinations we serve.
The groups we support are primarily made up of very poor and vulnerable children — but we also provide help to the families, teachers and carers connected with them. Through this voluntary work, we hope to make a small but meaningful difference in their lives.
I joined New Beginnings after meeting a colleague, Colin in Johannesburg. I spotted him struggling with suitcases after the flight we just done together full of donations and asked what it was all about — and from that moment everything fell into place. He introduced me to the amazing Rose, who runs the charity, and she welcomed me into the group with open arms.
Since then, I’ve had the honour of meeting incredible people like Mama B (“Buffy”) in Cape Town, who works tirelessly to ensure every donation reaches the children and families who need it most. Seeing the joy and hope these small gifts can bring has inspired me beyond words.
This year, I want to go one step further — and so I’ve decided to dedicate my upcoming bike ride from London Eye to Paris Notre Dame (Avenue Verte) to raising funds for New Beginnings.
On 23rd August, I’ll begin cycling 398 km / 247 miles and aim to complete the journey in no more than four days.
Every penny raised will go directly towards purchasing essential items such as school supplies, clothing, hygiene products, toys and other necessities, which I will personally deliver on future charity trips.
Your support, no matter how big or small, will make a genuine difference.
Thank you so much for helping me make this possible!
