    Story

On the streets of Britain there are about 320,000 homeless people, that’s the equivalent of nearly 9 times the population of Bridgwater, where I currently live. I hope you’ll agree with me that this statistic is deplorable. 1 in 6 of us will spend at least one night of our lives homeless. Arc in Somerset houses about 200 homeless people in its 16 or so properties, including the homeless hostel in Taunton. Similar organisations exist elsewhere. I plan to cycle to my home city of York from Somerset (284 miles) in May to raise money for these worthwhile organisations.

To-date we’ve raised £625* for charities who support the homeless, Arc in Somerset and Kitchen for Everyone in York. I’ve passed £300 to each in recognition of the need for funding in these difficult times. Thank you all for your support. If anyone else wishes to donate please use this page. Thank you. * Some cash donations,

This follows on from my last update. Since 1st March I've cycled the equivalent of Lands End to John O'Groats by road (874 miles) which I hope you'll agree is an achievement.  If anyone wishes to make a donation to this worthwhile cause please use this Just Giving page. Thank you to all who have supported me to-date.

Next week I planned to cycle to my home city of York from my current home in Somerset (280 miles), with donations in aid of the homeless.  I had selected two charities who support the homeless, Arc who look after the homeless in Somerset and Kitchens for Everyone in York who provide meals for the homeless.  I have raised £380 to-date.  Sadly, I've had to postpone my ride due to the coronavirus pandemic but hope to do it in September.
