Story
Hunger doesn't wear club colours & though food banks should not have to exist, whilst they do, the overwhelming generosity of local fans refuse to let people go hungry. Everybody deserves to feed themselves and their family with dignity.
@StPauliOnSea are taking on the fantastic Southend-on-Sea & EMT Cricket Club in an 11 A Side football fixture at Southchurch Park Southend on Saturday March 18th to support @SUFCFoodbanks to cover the operating costs of running their group, supporting their work helping foodbanks, & tackling food poverty in our community in the City of Southend-On-Sea.
The money raised will go towards: printing flyers, branded shirts, banners or other materials which will allow them to raise awareness for the cause & maximise their collections.
Fans Supporting Southend Foodbanks was set up by a group of Southend United Fans in reaction to the worrying rise of food poverty in the city. They aim to hold regular foodbank collections for Southend Foodbank at every SUFC home game, harnessing the power and generosity of the Shrimpers to tackle food insecurity.
Since they formed last Summer, they have held a major collection in partnership with the club and Southend Foodbank which raised over £1100 and 322kg of food. Since then, they have set up permanent collection boxes in Roots Hall's closest two fan pubs, The Spread Eagle and The Blue Boar which collect every matchday.
Please support if you’re able to!
