    Story

St George's is an ancient church which has represented and supported the people of the small rural community of Damerham for the past 900 years. Over the past two years we've had to spend £40,000 on ongoing repairs to the Church. The coronavirus pandemic further eroded our ability to raise funds. you can help us safeguard this beautiful Church. Please give generously and help us preserve this historically significant building for future generations. Thank you. You can learn more here Damerham Virtual Tour

Thanks to all those wonderful people who have supported our ongoing task of caring for this beautiful, historic Church with its associations with Kings, Queens and Bishops. As well as those who have given digitally, we were able to hold our Snowdrop Weekend after the enforced break caused by Covid and raised £1,300, as well as some individual donations; vital income at this time of year. Porch roof repairs start soon, and re-pointing of the lime mortar (as funds allow). Once again, thank you for your fantastic and vital support.

Our appeal was published in the Salisbury Journal this week, with a great article by Ben Paessler. Thank you Ben! And the Appeal is hopefully being circulated to parents of children at our local school today. Do pass on the story to others, as publicity helps us raise awareness, as well as vital funds. And thank you to those who are sending money the old-fashioned way, as well as those who have donated online. What looked a bleak picture at the beginning of the year is beginning to look just a little brighter!

In memory of my Kinchington, Lewis and Street ancestors who left Damerham and Rockbourne in the 1830s for Australia. I have seen the beautiful church and hope it can be restored asap
