HEADTEACHER SKY DIVE
The Friends of Ysgol Uwchradd Llanidloes High School, are seeking sponsorship for our Headteacher, Dan Owen, who has agreed to jump out of an aeroplane at 10,000 feet. Dan's sky dive is on 2 March 2019 and funnily enough, Dan says he is not looking forward to “an afternoon of unbridled, joyless terror, plunging towards the earth at 125mp.”! He’s doing it to raise funds for a brand new Pupil Support CYMORTH Unit and an extension to the school’s Autistic Spectrum Centre.
The current single Nurture Room, and the dedicated staff, provide care and support to those pupils finding school life troublesome or difficult. The new Centre will massively expand the space with a suite of rooms including a kitchen, classroom, social room and even a garden. This means that those pupils who, despite the wonderful efforts of staff, are not able to access GCSEs will benefit from a hugely enriched experience from the moment they arrive in school. These pupils will leave school with valuable qualifications and confident in the social and life skills they have acquired over 5 years.
We are proud of our school and the Friends of the School work hard to raise funds to support our children’s education. This is a major fundraising appeal to make an invaluable contribution to the future lives of many of our pupils who struggle. We have already received donations to cover the costs of Dan’s skydive so every penny we raise here will go directly to the project. The Friends, the staff and most of all the pupils are extremely grateful for anything you can contribute towards our project. Donations can also be made directly to the school or at any of our fundraising events which are notified on our Facebook page; Friends of Llanidloes High School
