Story
We are raising funds to oppose the destruction of Thornley Brook Valley & Ashbrook Valley.
Money raised will help fund marketing, legal representation, surveys and all the other expert help we will need to fight this.
Russell Homes propose to build 265 houses and a new link road between Lees New Road/Knowles Lane & Ashbrook Road/Oldham Road.
This development will have a devastating effect on the wildlife, including badgers, bats, deer, owls and other birds, a negative impact on noise and air pollution, and the loss of a precious green area for recreation for the community of Lees, Springhead & Grotton. This land is, at the moment, OPOL (Other Protected Open Land) but will lose its protected status and no longer be natural open land.
We believe if this development is allowed it will set a precedent for the wider area and will open up the flood gates to land grabbing and destruction of other green and open spaces across the UK.
Any money unused will be put back into the community to benefit people and wildlife in the area.

This development must be stopped on the grounds of traffic safety, pollution, loss of habitat for flora and fauna and loss of a valuable green space.

Its important that we keep space free in what is an already overcrowded area. This affects the whole of Saddleworth in that there are only two main roads into Oldham, already congested.

I live in mossley and frequently run through and enjoy this area. I am totally apposed to the destruction of this lovely area by these vandals.
