Story
Rodborough Church is a building that is enjoyed by thousands in the local community every year. From the hundreds of families who attend the annual Christingle service, to the small but highly committed and growing congregation who gather together for Holy Communion every Sunday, the church is a central part of our community. With new innovations, such as intergenerational afternoon tea, and a children's drama group, the church welcomes everyone in the local community. In fact, the church has been a key part of Rodborough for almost 700 years, with first records of a chapel on the site where the church now stands being from 1378.
Existing church buildings originate in part from 1580, and so it is of no surprise that the buildings are getting tired and are now in need of essential repair.
Having a church for school children of the parish to enjoy, and that can host a range of community events and holy occasions seems to be something that brings priceless benefits to the community. More than that, our church has a wonderful ability to connect the community the lives of those who were lost in the Great War. And future weddings and baptisms in such a beautiful place are something we want to make sure every Rodborough resident can enjoy.
If we are unable to maintain the church, the next step is simple – the church will become unsafe and it will simply have to be closed.
If every Rodborough resident is able to give just £7, then we will be able to carry out the works required and keep the church open for future generations to enjoy.
