Project Breakfast Club 2022

The Salmon Inn is proud to be a community-focused pub. You have been incredibly supportive of the pub in recent years. The pandemic brought us some very difficult challenges, and yet you have been there for us throughout. It's time for us to pay back that support and do something for the community.

This year at The Salmon we're launching Project Breakfast Club - raising money to support a breakfast club at a Leicester high school. Around 22% of 11-16 year-olds in the United Kingdom live below the poverty line, and as many as 35% in central Leicester.

A breakfast club ensures that the poorest students have access to a substantial, healthy breakfast before school to give them the best chance of a proper start to the day. A good morning meal has been scientifically proven to improved learning, focus and behaviour in an education environment.

With help from volunteers and your donations, we'll be able to run the breakfast club for one school, on an absolute minimum of £240 per month, which will supply hot food, a side of fresh fruit and a carton of juice. If we can beat the target, we can improve the standard of breakfast on offer, increase the number of students the breakfast club is available to, and possible even open the club to multiple schools.

In the year 2022, no child in Leicester should experience food poverty. Sadly, many will. We will try our very best to support as many as we possibly can.

Thirdly, come down to The Salmon. We'll be throwing plenty of fundraising events. Expect quiz nights, band nights, book sales, cake sales, raffles, challenges and pub games to raise some money for a wonderful cause.
