Devastating news as we are heartbroken to announce the death of Cleveland Police Officer PC David Myers who served as a Police Officer in Hartlepool.
When a serving police officer tragically dies on Duty Police Hour activates a JustGiving page to enable our readers to make a donation to support the family once all donations are closed we privately make arrangements via to Police Federation to ensure the funds are passed safety and securely to the officer family.
Tragically a Hartlepool Policeman has died, The officer who also served with the met police tragically died following a seafront car fire.
Police Constable David Myers needed emergency treatment following the blaze in Seaton Carew on Monday.
Cleveland Police have today confirmed the tragic news and the loss of the long-serving officer.
Cleveland Police spoke to confirm “In the early hours of Monday April 15 2019 emergency services were alerted to a car fire on the seafront at Seaton Carew.
“A man required hospital treatment and we have now been notified that he has now died.
“Having spoken to his family, we can now confirm that the deceased was a serving Cleveland Police Officer, PC David Myers.”
The police spokeswoman added: “Our thoughts and sympathies are with David’s family, friends and colleagues.
“He was 47 years old and he had 16 years’ service with Cleveland Police, having previously served with the Metropolitan Police Service.
“Inquiries into the circumstances surrounding his death are on-going and officers are supporting David’s family and colleagues.
“His family need privacy at this very difficult time and we would urge that everyone respects this.”
Police Constable Myers was apart of the Hartlepool’s neighbourhood policing team and in 2008 was nominated for a national community police officer of the year award.
Along with his work he was recognised for his work in relation to anti-social behaviour, criminal damage and other issues.
The thoughts of the Police Hour team are with all officers, family and friends we think of you at this distressing time.
