Story

Thursday 1st December, Nathan was taken to hospital after he had a pain in his head. From then on the nightmare just spiralled, Nathan was told he had a bleed on the brain but they didn’t know what had caused it, eventually they found that Nathan had something called a AVM something that is so rare.

1% of the population have one, it’s something you are born with and until it ruptured you wouldn’t know you had one. Of course it would be something as rare as that with Nathan he never does anything by half’s. On Thursday night the AVM ruptured through no fault of its own, which then caused the bleed.

After a 7 hour surgery he battled though a war wound and a half. As the result of his bleed he has lost the sensation in his left leg and reduced mobility in his left arm. Nathan will need extensive rehabilitation in hospital they are hopeful he will regain this it’s just going to take lots of time and with support from you all we can Nathan the support he needs to get this from a specialist rehabilitation team.

In Lauren's words "He is the most determined person I’ve ever met so if anybody can do it he will. It’s going to be a long road but we will get there one toe at a time. You’re still here with us and that’s the main thing. He’s so loved by so many people and that’s been clear to see. Now let’s get him home where he belongs, as we have 3 little girls dying to see their daddy."

With your generous donations we are looking at getting Nathan in a specialist rehabilitation hospital where he can get the treatment he needs to getting back to his family, the cost of this is £2000 a week for private care. There is currently no estimate of how long it will take him to get on the rehabilitation ward with the NHS.

We will also be supporting the travel and costs for Lauren and Nathan in all their hospital visits, parking (Currently £20 a day), fuel (2.5 hours drive Lauren does everyday), everything in which we can keep them together through this as a team together.

Anything you can donate to help this truly incredible family would be hugely appreciated and they deserve all the support they can in getting back to what they should be; a happy, fun, out-going family.
