    Story

    Hello friends,

You are here because you know Matthew or have become aware of his situation.

We really hope that together we can get Matthew’s arm moving again.

14 years ago Matthew was involved in a Motorcycle accident that almost took his life. He suffered several serious injuries, the most severe of these were to the nerves (Brachial Plexus) in his right side which resulted in Matthew losing all movement to right hand, arm and shoulder.

Since the accident it has been a struggle for Matthew and his family but in the last few years he has seen some improvement. Most notably he has gained feeling back to his upper arm, can shrug his shoulder and has slight movement in his hand.

As a result of this progress, there is real hope that Matthew can get full movement back to his arm. He has enough nerve response that, with the new technology that has become available, a great improvement can be made to his life.

This technology responds to the nerve signals which would allow him to move his arm and to grip just by thinking it. It also aids the nervous system to re-trigger the signals and rebuild the pathways that would encourage natural movement of the arm and muscle growth in the long term.

Obviously cutting edge technology comes at a substantial cost. We are looking to raise £45,000.

This amount would cover the bespoke fitting and construction of the device specific to Matthews requirements, as well as the necessary cost of the Physiotherapy and Rehabilitation that comes with it. If we were to be successful he would be one of the first in the country to use such technology.

If we are fortunate enough to raise an amount beyond our target, Matthew will look to donate the excess to an individual that has a similar injury and looking to raise funds for this technology.

Your donations would be most welcome.

Thank you for your interest, time and generosity.

    Matthew’s friends and family xx
