Story
From 7 May 2017 I will be walking around 500 miles along the Camino de Santiago, from St Jean Pied de Port in France to Santiago de Compostela in Spain. My pilgrimage is about listening to the stories of other pilgrims to discover what motivates people of different faiths and none to make the journey along the Way. I want to learn how stories define us and how the church can engage with the questions people are asking and the issues that matter to them.
If you would like to share this journey with me please follow my progress on my facebook page. I will also be using this journey to raise funding for two projects which connect with what I hope to learn:
Alcester Day Care provides support for those with Alzheimer's, and other forms of dementia, and their carers. Dementia attacks memory and robs people of their stories. Alcester Day Care provides a supportive environment in which clients' identity is respected and preserved;
BMS Action Teams offer a programme for young people to volunteer to work overseas for a year, engaging with other cultures and helping in practical ways defined by those local communities. Volunteers have to raise their own funding (£4,460 for 2017/8) and my daughter Maggie is planning to take part in 2019/20.
If you would like to sponsor me on my journey I will be splitting the funds raised equally between the two projects.
