I'm setting up this fundraiser for my best friend Ade Newman. Ade was a healthy active bloke, who loves the Lycra - and his racing bikes. He has recently been diagnosed with high grade B-Cell non-Hodgkin Lymphoma (fast growing brain tumour). He has endured a 12 hour brain operation & chemotherapy during the past 9 weeks. This week Ade has been given the devastating news of a terminal diagnosis, with no further treatment offered by the NHS, other than palliative Radiotherapy (short term relief).

Ade needs Proton beam therapy that is only offered privately - and is very expensive at £50K. Rutherford Cancer center can offer such therapy and we need Ade there now, due to this aggressive tumour.

I'm not just going to sit back and hopefully have people donate their hard-earned cash. I shall be using the wife-to-be's Peloton bike to go on a bike ride to Annecy in the French Alps. WR5 to Annecy is approximately 711 miles for a push iron. Personally unlike Ade I am not fit & most certainly not a cyclist. I am aiming to reach Annecy in 28 days, meaning I need to cover 25-30 miles per day. We will be giving updates on my progress - and posting pictures, so you know I am doing this. My journey will start on December 14th - that is coincidentally Ade's birthday.

I chose to do this for Ade as he loves cycling and has a desire to visit Annecy one day. Help me raise the funds, so Ade gets the time - and his family gets his time.

Should we not raise the funds for the therapy or his clinical condition changes (meaning the proton beam therapy can't happen). All funds raised would help Ade & his family with ongoing costs for the next steps at this very difficult time.
