Story

We are thrilled to be able to continue this fund and try to help more schools. We are appealing to everyone to help in not only donating but spreading awareness and encouraging the screening of our children. We are hoping that parents of children will come on board and help us get every school a defibrillator as soon as possible. We welcome all forms of Fundraising!!! If you know of a school that doesnt have one please tell us. Also, ask the school if they have any plans to get one and if they can do anything to help raise the money. Every little bit helps. Long QT syndrome (LQTS) is just one condition which affects repolarisation of the heart after a heartbeat. This causes an increased risk of an irregular heartbeat which can result in fainting, drowning, or sudden death. It has many triggers but most common, exercise.

Facts and figures show that • 270 children die in the UK every year after suffering a Sudden Cardiac Arrest at school

• Based on European data, it is estimated that approximately 60,000 Out of Hospital Cardiac Arrests occur every year in the UK.

• Without immediate treatment, 90-95% of Sudden Cardiac Arrest victims will die

• If a defibrillator is used and effective CPR is performed within 3-5 minutes of cardiac arrest, chance of survival increases from 6% to 74%

Lets improve our survival rate and be better prepared for emergency sItuations. That one life we might just save could be yours or your child’s.

If anyone reading this already has a defib, please register it with NI Ambulance Service. This allows them to locate the closest one to someone who rings 999.

Thank you for taking the time to read this and any support will be greatly appreciated.
