Story
*Update Sunday 4/10
Last day of roller skating! Its been fun! And I am so overwhelmed with everyone's generosity. I never thought I would get there in a million years but it's done! Just to find a suitable place now. :) Thank you from the bottom of my heart for believing in me! I have increased my target a little, if I can raise as much as I can, it can go towards the second defibrillator that we are trying to raise funds for, potentially for Coatshill and priory bridge area. Thank You!!!
*Update Friday 2/10
Day 5 and just under 22 miles done! 4 and a wee bit to go! Only fell once so far! :) I just want to say to everyone how thrilled I am for your kindness and generosity that you have shown to help me get to where I am already. I've had complete strangers stop me and give me money in the street to help towards my goal. Not far to go now. Any money raised over and above the goal total, will be put towards the next defibrillator to be installed in Blantyre. We need one of these to be put in reach of everyone within a five min timescale to be effective at its fullest.
*Update Thursday 1/10
Now on Day 4 and on target to get all my miles before Sunday! I'm not going to lie, it's been hard work! Feet are sore, back is sore, and my skates will be fit for the bin by the end but it will hopefully all be worth it! If you see me out and about say hi! Just remember,it could be you or a loved one that will need a defibrillator one day! Im more than grateful for all the donations so far. So thank you!
Without immediate treatment, 90-95% of Sudden Cardiac Arrest casualties will die.
If a defibrillator is used and effective CPR is performed within 3-5 minutes of cardiac arrest, the chance of survival increases from 6-75%
In Blantyre, we would like to see a defibrillator unit in easy reach to everyone within this time scale, and make people aware of their position.
I am aiming alongside Family Shopper on the main street in High Blantyre to raise enough to purchase at least two of these units along with outdoor storage cabinets that can be easily unlocked and keep the units in top condition. These life saving devices are extremely easy to use yet could be the fine line between life or death. To help raise these funds i will be doing a Roller skate marathon over 7 days. If you see a grown woman out in about in a pair of roller skates, then be assured its all for a good cause and i'm not just trying to relive my youth :) I will be doing my roller skating between Monday 28th September and Monday 5th October. If the full amount of donations hasn't been reached I will continue to do events until the total has been reached.
