I've raised £10000 to Deliver mindfulness activities and recourses to primary aged children to support their mental health and wellbeing.

The need for supporting primary and lower school children in managing their mental health and wellbeing should be the forefront of tackling the rise in mental health cases across the UK. Concerns of many head teachers of primary schools show that there is currently no support in helping educate children on mental health. Therefore, this project is a practical solution to support and teach children how to deal with anxiety and some mental health symptoms.
Having looked at the concerns and completed some research, we have created a programme and devise some resources to tackle mental health issues at the primary stages of children's lives where the interventions are most critical. Primary age children look to be accepted by their peers and need to have a sense of belonging. Mental health issues create barriers for the individual; therefore affect self confidence, self understanding, integration and achievement.
Children from 4 years old - 12 years old will benefit from the project with schools being supported with resources and training in order for the schools to be able to support the children which they have a duty of care for in view of helping any identified children to limit an impact to them for mental health concerns.
Research has shown that there is no mental health support for primary age children and that children in the early stages can develop anxiety and depression. By tackling the issues at an early age, we can help the children affected by mental health concerns to understand coping strategies, which will help them through their whole life. The added benefits will also tackle eating disorders, obesity and how to avoid gang culture, as for the children to be able to understand themselves will give them choices, self esteem and confidence to take through their lives.
This is being rolled out across the UK as a blended programme with direct support and using a virtual platform, with the plan to offer this as a support for lower and primary age schools to access across the UK. For every £97.40 raised will provide 1 school with the resources to support and develop their children into becoming mentally healthy. This project is run at cost price, meaning no profit is made, with your money going directly into tackling children’s mental health.
