Story
In September 2023, I will start my trek in Kathmandu, from here I will fly to Lukla (the world’s most dangerous airport). I will then follow the footsteps of Sir Edmund Hillary and Tenzing Norgay, the first climbers to summit Everest and start the 15-day trek to Everest Base Camp at 5,364m above sea level….
Standing at a formidable 8,848m, the summit of Mount Everest offers the perfect backdrop for this trek of a lifetime.
Starting in Lukla, my route will take me through Sherpa villages, past beautiful monasteries and over jaw-dropping suspension bridges until I finally reach the base camp of the world’s highest mountain. The following morning, I will then start to climb to the highest point of the trek, Kala Patthar 5,644m, before leaving the mountains to return to Kathmandu.
All the fundraising will be donated to Chadsgrove Special education School.
Chadsgrove School is an extraordinary school filled with amazing pupils that need a bit of extra support to be able to engage with the world around them. We are hoping with the generous donations/sponsorship, we can enrich the lives of the Children so that they can develop into integrated members of society.
The donations raised will go towards upgrading the outside play area and Sensory Garden, including wheelchair friendly access-routes for both so everyone can enjoy the outside space. It will also provide funding for important community outreach programmes.
From the first time I walked into the school and met with Emma, I was taken back on how amazing the children were and how much of a joy they were to be around. The teachers are fantastic, you can see how much love and affection they have for every single child at the school. Working for Severn Trent I have been given great opportunities and I can say that working with the children and the staff at Chadsgrove has been a privilege.
Massive thank you for taking the time to read my story, and huge thank you for all your sponsorships, I will keep you all updated throughout the trek,
Thanks again,
Kev
