Story

ABF The Soldiers Charity and NHS Charities are continuing to work hard providing grants and services to those affected by the current COVID-19 crisis.

UPDATE: Having completed the 690 mile challenge, I am going to continue to walk the route of the 36th Ulster Division whilst in Flanders and France. From Thiepval they moved to Mesen (Belgium), then Ypres (Belgium) before ending up in Cambria (France). This is approximately 117 miles, which I will round up to 120. I will walk 6 miles a day for 20 days, starting on 12th July and finishing on 31st July taking my total mileage to 810 miles.

Starting on 01 May I will walk the distance from Helen's Tower in Clandeboye Estate, Co Down to the Ulster Memorial Tower, at the Somme battlefield, Thiepval Wood, (usinf the modern day route) a total distance of 690 miles. These locations are where the 36th Ulster Division trained and then fought in the opening days of the Battle of the Somme, 1st July 1916. I will walk approximately 11.5 miles a day, for 60 days. Each day I will post my virtual location onto the page. I am doing this to help ABF The Soldiers' Charity and NHS Charities.

Original Route via Belfast - Liverpool - Seaforde (Sussex) - Calias - Flesselles - Abbeyville - Thiepval.

ABF The Soldiers’ Charity is the national charity of the British Army, providing a lifetime of support to soldiers, veterans and their immediate families when they are in need.

NHS Charities Together is the new trading name of The Association of NHS Charities, a membership organisation representing, supporting and championing NHS Charities..

All donations will be split equally between the two charities.
