    Story

As a parent and Unit Assistant of a Sea Cadet, I work closely with the staff at Hornchurch and Upminster Sea Cadet Unit. My son has been attending the unit about a year and a half now and in that time has completed various sailing and kayaking qualifications and has attended numerous events including the Mayor of Havering's Civic Dinner, local fayre's, events and of course Remembrance parades. These would not happen without the support of the staff, dedicated committee members and of course transport to get to the various events.
In April 2019, the emission regulations change in London, this means that the current mini buses will be too old to transport our cadets to the Royal Docks sailing centre and events within the boundaries of the zone.
Having seen first hand the importance of having access to a unit minibus, it allows the cadets to do and attend events as well as the extra opportunities that arise from the use of the buses.
It's a massive expense as I'm sure you all agree but I, and the the cadets would really appreciate any amount of donation that you can spare, to help in the continuing success the Hornchurch and Upminster Sea Cadet Unit achieves.
We would consider sponsorship (within the Sea Cadet branding requirements) as well, for the right amount of course. If you are in a position to consider sponsorship please contact me and I will pass your offer on to the Unit Chairman.
Thank you, in advance of any donation, thank you also for taking the time to read about the Sea Cadets and the wonderful work this unit does for the children and the enjoyment they get out of it.
Thank-you all for your good will.

Firstly, a big thank you to all those who have donated since my last update. The Unit has been busy raising funds for the minibus as well as this page; on Sunday, the Unit was at the Willow Farm Rainham Boot Sale the Unit raised £273.00 towards the new minibus. The Unit has set up a fundraising email, if any of our supporters or visitors to this page want to contact us regarding fund raising or information about our minibus fund, the email is: hornchurchseacadetsfundraising@outlook.com I will keep this page updated with progress.

Since the last update, the cadets have been busy at the Unit preparing for their annual inspection. We have received several more donations to this site as well as some direct donations to the Unit. The Hornchurch and Upminster Sea Cadet Unit's crowd funding page has had a large number of visitors since the jingle recorded by two cadets went live on TimeFM radio. I would like to thank all those who have donated and will be taking up the challenge of undertaking a triathlon to raise more funds for the unit.

A big thank you to all those who have donated - we have raised £1500 to date. The Unit has been in the local paper - the Romford Recorder regarding the minibus and the good work of the Unit. Two of our cadets have recorded a “jingle” with Time FM to promote the work that they do and the importance of the minibus to the unit, please do tune in and listen out for it. The cadets were at Roneo Corner Tesco in Romford raising funds for the minibus and talking to people interested in joining the unit. February is recruitment month for Sea Cadets.

Our 2 grandsons sean and jay really enjoy the cadets and we're delighted to be able contribute to Steve so the unit can eventually buy their bus. Good luck with the fund raising.
