    Story

On 2nd September 2016 the Kitto family were heading out to spend the day together a day that never happened. Kay Kitto was involved in a horrific accident outside their home when a van and lorry crashed and subsequently hit Kay who was stood by the family car. Kay's son, Dex and husband, Nigel, witnessed this and Kay's guide dog Jackie was thrown from the boot such was the impact. Kay is registered as blind.

Kay has suffered life changing injuries and has been transferred from the Royal Cornwall hospital to Derriford hospital in Plymouth some 2 hrs drive from the family home. Dex has not seen his mum since the accident and Nigel has kept a bedside vigil sleeping on a chair next to kay's bed since Friday. Kay has had two major operations since the collision and will need further operations. She has major injuries to both her legs and fractures to her lower spine.

There has been an outpouring of support on Facebook and Twitter from all over the world and many people have asked what they can do to help. We have decided the best form of support for the family will be to ease their financial burden in the coming months. Jackie the guide dog is in kennels and the families car was badly damaged during the collision. There will be ongoing expenses for the family including petrol as Nigel will need to travel to and from the hospital while also caring for Dex and many other expenses as Kay will be in hospital for quite some time.

The Kitto family are truly inspirational raising money for causes and Dex has just spent the summer raising money for the Guide dogs including donating his own pocket money every week. So, please give what you can even a £1 will help this family get through what has been a horrific experience and continues to impact their lives in ways we can only imagine. Let's come together and ease their burden and allow them to have one less thing to be worried about.

    Thank you.

Hi Everyone Thank you all so much for your generosity. Nigel and Kay are overwhelmed by the support that has been shown. The road ahead is very long but with your support money is one less thing for them to worry about. Kay had a visitor yesterday. Janet Steyn who has been with Nigel and Kay the last few days brought Guide Dog puppy Olive into visit Kay. Janet has been an immense support to Nigel and continues to do so. So thank you again and Nigel sends his thanks too for all you have done.
