Story

Help build a bedroom for Jenni who is a critically ill 6 year old girl waiting on a lung transplant. This bedroom would allow her to be treated at home when her condition inevitably worsens. We aim to raise £17,000 to help her!

Jenni attends Gibson Primary School, Omagh and has a very serious heart and lung condition (Pulmonary Arterial Hypertension) which necessitates continuous 24 hour medical infusion through a Hickman line which goes directly to her chest. Consequently, Jenni must wear a backpack to hold the pump and have oxygen tanks beside her at all times.

Despite looking healthy Jenni is only able to attend school for 3 hours a day, however she is often too unwell and can't make it in. This tends to be the highlight of her day and is a place where she can feel like a normal little girl with her friends.

Unfortunately, Jenni's condition has worsened recently and she now requires a lung transplant. As a child the waiting time for organ donation can be twice that of an adult it is therefore not known if Jenni will be successful in this quest.

The inevitable deterioration which will continue with Jenni's condition means that it will get to the point where she will require medical support at home. However, in order for her to receive this support she will require a downstairs bedroom.

As she must be supervised at all times Jenni currently sleeps on a toddler bed at the bottom of her parent's bedroom which is unsuitable for nurses and other medical staff to treat her.

The aim is for Jenni to have her own downstairs bedroom and bathroom which has full disabled access and provides space for one parent to stay along with her.

Significant funds have already been secured for this project however we are aiming to raise a further £17,000 to help fully fund this extension. This will allow Jenni to have her own bedroom (for the first time in 3 years) and provide her with some level of independence and dignity.

Without this funding it is likely that Jenni will have to be admitted to hospital when her condition worsens (which unfortunately in inevitable). This will remove her from her family at the most crucial time and add further stress and turmoil to a family who have already been through so much!

Jenni has battled incredibly hard and will have many challenges ahead. Your help in making it possible for her to have the right environment at home will make those battles that little bit easier for her.

We are incredibly grateful to everyone who shares, donates or helps in any way!
