Story

We are sisters Evie & Grace, thank you for visiting our crowdfunding page.

We have signed up to volunteer in Costa Rica in 2024 for 4 weeks with Camps International. We will be almost 16 and 18 when we go, and we have been tasked with fundraising our entire trip.

We have plenty of fundraising projects planned over the next 12 months to help us reach our target. We have both managed to get weekend jobs, babysitting and waitressing, we have set up a monthly craft fair in our local village and run the pop up cafe selling homemade cakes and refreshments, we also have a stall selling sustainable and eco-friendly products by Ethical-Me.co.uk.

We are also very grateful to our local corporate sponsors, a number of small businesses who have generously sponsored us:

Camperninja.co.uk, Deborah Wise Wills, Emmay School of Irish Dance, Ethical-Me.co.uk, Instinct Gym, Kelsall Cycles, Le Core Coffee, Nicole James Hair Salon, Om Tarporley, Reva Green Floral Design, Rooted Tree Surgery, The Firs Vets, The Swan at Tarporley.

So, what will we be doing in Costa Rica?

We will be living in the heart of the rainforest, working alongside local people and getting involved with a variety of projects in the local area, from vital community development projects to help improve infrastructure within the villages, to innovative and sustainable projects that support the environment and wildlife conservation.

We will also have a unique opportunity to experience one of the world’s most biodiverse regions whilst helping to contribute to important conservation work. We will be working on a range of environmental projects, including protecting turtles and their ecosystem, marine conservation projects such as beach clean-ups and educational workshops.

A typical day will start with breakfast, then a morning of project work, return to camp for lunch, with more project work in the afternoon, before returning to camp for a shower and a chance to do washing – by hand! No washing machines in sight! Then after dinner, there’s time to relax but we’ve been informed we’ll probably find we’ll be going to bed a little earlier than at home – most likely because we’ll be exhausted and need our sleep, ready for the next day! Accommodation is basic – tents, cabins and bunk rooms, but that does not phase us one bit – we're ready to step out of our comfort zones.

We're excited for the adventure and the opportunity to something good to help a nation less fortunate than our own.

Thank you so much for your support

Love Evie & Grace ❤️
