At around the age of 2, it was quite clear that Eddie had some difficulties in communicating. He would manage to say a few words such as mama, cat and baba but nothing much else. It's known for children to develop at different rates so we thought he may just be taking a little longer.

However, things didn't start improving. In fact he stopped saying those words and often would just play with the same toys, only eat certain foods and act like he was in his own little world. I was struggling to connect and fully understand my son.

We are still waiting for an official assessment via the NHS but have been told that they are quite certain that Eddie has autism. This was extremely upsetting especially when they mentioned that it is unlikely that Eddie will ever speak.

After doing some research, I discovered the Son-Rise program ran by the Autism Treatment Centre of America. I have attended one of the programs in London recently and I am working with Eddie in his playroom 6 -8 hours a day 1 to 1.This is extremely hard and tiring especially with 6- month Sam (Eddie's little brother) too.

The Intensive program involves travelling to America and allowing the child facilitators to work with Eddie throughout the day . They have various team meetings regarding Eddie and work out a personalised plan to try and help him to communicate and develop skills such as being potty trained and eating his own meal.

Eddie is nearly 4 and is due to start school next year. He is a very happy and loving boy and we are optimistic about his ongoing journey. I know that there are going to be daily challenges but with your donations you will be helping towards improving my little boy's future.
