Story

I'm raising £1,000 for a community project

Hello my name is Deborah and I am a Hanwell resident and I will be running the London Marathon on Sunday 27 April. I'm very fortunate to have a ballot place which means that I have the freedom to fundraise for the cause that I choose. And I can't think of a better cause than Ealing's volunteer-led and people-powered LAGER Can!

Why LAGER Can?

Every day, LAGER Can volunteers put on their blue vests, pick up their blue bags and litter pickers and walk local streets, parks, and green spaces helping to keep them clean and litter-free.

While LAGER Can volunteers are maintaining Ealing's streets and green spaces, I'll be running them, getting in the training so I can make it round the 26.2 mile marathon course.

What do LAGER Can do?

As well as keeping their local areas litter-free, LAGER Can volunteers come together to support some of our most treasured local events like the Hanwell Hootie and Ealing Summer Festivals. They also work with the Canal and River Trust and Ealing Council to make a big impact on problem areas and with local schools and teenagers who complete their Duke of Edinburgh volunteer hours component through the group.

In a nutshell, they're amazing, an incredibly positive force for local good, and deserve all of our support.

My fundraising

As always with small community groups like this, a little goes a long way, so please feel like you can donate any amount that you can spare - nothing is too small! Please help me reach (and maybe beat) my target. Every penny (minus the Just Giving fees) goes direct into LAGER Can's bank account.

And if you'd like to join LAGER Can, you can find them on Facebook by searching 'LAGER Can' at or go to their website here: https://lagercan.co.uk/
