Story

CREATIVE FUTURES@NIGERIA

This is the 5th year of our successful and ambitious Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, Medicine and Mathematics (STEAM) workshop that we've delivered in Nigeria and Jamaica in 2017, 2018 2019 and 2021, over 1700 students (age 9 to 11 years old) have benefited because of your amazing financial support. We are again planning to host Creative Futures@Nigeria in 4 remote areas of Nigeria (Esie, Apado, Ibusa and Uyo) over 4 weeks in August 2022. This is the reason we are asking for your support so that we can continue to inspire and impact the lives of these young pupils to achieve their potential. With your support in Nigeria in 2019 and 2021, we spent 125 hours interacting with 387 pupils from 12 Primary and 3 Secondary Schools. 24 teachers were involved with 20 volunteers participated. At the end of the workshops we gave away 1700 stationaries and 30 desktops and 6 laptops computers to Schools, Community hubs and teachers. Similarly in Jamaica in 2019, we interacted with 640 students from 53 Schools and 95 teachers benefited from our CPD seminars.

Creative Futures - Nigeria will be a 5 days-long workshop at each location. It is designed to inspire pupils in STEMM. It aims to show students their potential and encourage them to learn about STEMM subjects, and perceive higher education as something they would want. The framework for the event is that it was part of Science and Engineering Taster Week, hence the ability to find audiences in so many locations and in such numbers.

The structure of the event is fixed. “Creative Futures: Achieving Your Potential” suits students aged 9-11 years. It includes the presenters acting as role models, mentors and inspirational speakers. The focus of the student experience is upon helping the pupils to use their FOUR-C thinking: Critical thinking in order to work Collaboratively and Communicate their Creativity while working in a team (4Cs).
