    Story

Our little girl, Caitlin Wilkie was diagnosed with Bardet Biedl Syndrome in 2017. This is an extremely rare genetic condition with symptoms including heart issues, kidney failure, learning difficulties, obesity and sight loss usually by teenage years.

BBS is an extremely rare condition which only effects around 700 people in the UK with only 7 known cases in Scotland.

Caitlin, at present, has lost all her night vision and cannot see in dim light.

We are leading Team Scotland in a challenge called, Carry The Gene which will see a team BBSUK baton taken from John O Groats to the Borders where we will hand over to Team Ireland to carry through Ireland before handing onto Team England to get it to Lands End.

We are delighted that there are 3No other Scottish Families to date with BBS on board for the challenge!! 😍

    The route is as follows:

    John O Groats to Braemar (250 mile cycle - 18th - 21st April)

Braemar to Glen Clova (18 mile walk over Jocks road - 22nd April)

Glen Clova to Kirriemuir (13 mile Run - 23rd April)

Kirriemuir to Strathmore Rugby Club (6 mile walk - 23rd April)

Strathmore Rugby Club to Newtyle (10 mile run / cycle - 23rd April)

Newtyle to Dundee (13 mile cycle - 22nd April)

Dundee to Tentsmuir (13 mile run - 22nd April)

Tentsmuir to St Andrews (10 mile cycle - 22nd April)

St Andrews to Forth Road Bridge (70 mile Fife coastal path walk - 22nd, 23rd, 29th, 30th April & 5th May Nightwalk)

Forth Road Bridge to Murrayfield (13 mile run - 6th May)

Murrayfield to Melrose (45 mile cycle - 7th May)

Melrose to Borders (45 mile walk on St Cuthberts Way - 11th, 12th & 13th May)

Each of these sections currently have anything between 10 to 90No participants, with more obviously welcomed with open arms! We are at over 350 participants at present which is amazing!

We kick off from 18th April 2023 and aim to be at the borders on Saturday 13th May!! We then head over to Belfast to hand our baton onto Team Ireland to strut their stuff! 💚

Please give what you can to such an amazing cause which is obviously so so close to our hearts and all other families affected with this condition!

    Thank you!!!! 😍😍
