Story
Bert Harris MBE - former Headteacher of Crocketts Lane Junior & Parkside Junior Schools in Smethwick from 1959 to 1989, Chairman of Newton Village Hall Committee from 2010 to 2020, Past President of both Smethwick & Mumbles Rotary Clubs, Magistrate - Warley Bench & Swansea Bench, Past Chairman of Governors -Waun Wen Primary School, Swansea. Member of many other Clubs and organisations.
Bert passed peacefully at home after a short illness on 29th May 2021, aged 93. He leaves his wife of 64 years, Elinor, daughter Nichola, son-in-law Giles & grandson Alex. He will be greatly missed & fondly remembered by his relatives, friends, colleagues & past pupils.
The cortege will leave the family home at 12.50pm on Friday 25th June 2021 for a private funeral at All Saints Church, Oystermouth followed by interment at 2.15pm at Oystermouth Cemetary.
Mumbles First Responders is a small voluntary organisation working with the Welsh Ambulance Services NHS Trust. They provide emergency life support in Mumbles and the surrounding areas in response to 999 calls , before an ambulance or Rapid Response Vehicle can get to an individual. Bert was proud to be a “Mumbles boy” and twice the First Responders have helped him and his family for which he was forever grateful. Any support for them in his memory is greatly appreciated.
