Thanks for visiting our page, it tells us you care about those caring for you. We are the Staff Association of BADGER (Birmingham and District Emergency Room) which is a not-for-profit co-operative of GPs that cover surgeries when they are closed at night and weekends. We work in Badger’s urgent treatment centres and from April to July we staffed the COVID-19 Referral Centre at the NEC. It served Birmingham and Solihull people who needed GP care but couldn’t be seen because of Covid symptoms. People with any health problem could safely have face to face GP care even if they might be at risk. We work in the front line of the NHS every day, seeing people who need care and don’t need or want to go to hospital.

Now the autumn is here and things are heating up, we are working in new safe places -Care Referral Centres in the community where local people can get the care they need regardless of whether Covid night be a factor. To keep us us safe our sewing volunteers are still making washable gowns and other PPE and we are raising money fabric and fastenings for them, face shields and special masks for extra protection to keep us and our patients safe.

All our patients have been impacted by the COVID-19 crisis, many have been ill and lives have sadly been lost. The autumn is here and hospitals are filling up again as winter comes. So we can continue to care for you, we need your help to keep raising money. Our target is £25,000. At £5,000 our medical director, Dr Fay Wilson had her hair shaved off and now we have passed £10,000 we have moved into Phase 2. As we cross this milestone we have spent the first £10,000 on PPE and we have released a video of the famous hair shave!

Dozens of local people and firms have donated time, skills, equipment and love. Jaguar Landrover gave fantastic face shields. Volunteers are making masks and face coverings to raise money. Many Badger staff are giving an hour or a whole shift’s work to a parallel appeal. We hope you will join in, to help.
