    Story

My little boy Arlo-Blue was sadly born stillborn on the 30th April 2020 at 22:22pm after 2 days of induced labour at 31 & 5 weeks pregnant. After i had given birth to him, i was very fortunate to spend 4 days with making precious and cherished memories with him in the Nightingale Suite at QA Hospital. Whilst i was there he was put into a cold cot, meaning that i could have him with me 24 hours a day, so i was able to hold and cuddle him when i wanted. I began talking to the midwives who were amazing with the care we both recieved, they explained that they only had one fully working cot cold, the one that Arlo-Blue was in was faulty which meant the gel mattress kept freezing which meant that it had to be turnt off and on throughout the day. Whilst i was in the Nightingale Suite i was handed a memory box which helped me in creating some of the precious memories that i was able to make with Arlo. I found that some of the memories i had created with Arlo were ones that weren‘t in the memory box that i was given.

Also when i came home i noticed that there wasn’t any memory boxes available for Arlo’s brothers and sister to help in their grief process so the idea of Arlo’s butterfly wish sibling bag was created, to help siblings make memories and to help them in their grief process.

I’m aiming to raise £4,000 to be able to purchase a new cold cot dedicated to Arlo and to help create as many memory boxes as possible with some of the memories that i created with Arlo to help parents who have to go through what i went through. If my little boy can help just one family be able to spend time and make cherished memories with their baby, then my baby didn‘t just die, he’ll live on through the family that he helps.
