I've raised £500000 to Raise money for Caister independent lifeboat, to name the new lifeboat after our late mum Annette Thurlow.

In 2018 we lost our dear mum Annette Thurlow aged just 58 years young. With a career in nursing spanning over 30 years it was a cruel hand dealt to a wonderful lady that had given and cared so much for others. Annette's wishes were to become an organ donor in the event of her death, these wishes were in no doubt born from her long service with the NHS. Unfortunately and somewhat even more tragic this wish could not be fulfilled due to the coroner being unable to find a cause of death.
Caister Lifeboat are getting a new state of the art lifeboat in 2022 and as a family we are going to attempt to raise enough money to become the single largest donor with the view to requesting that Caister Volunteer Lifeboat Service name the new lifeboat 'Annette Thurlow'
Annette was Dick Thurlows stalwart during his 13 years as Coxswain of Caister lifeboat between 1991 and 2004 and actively encouraged her two sons Richard and Aaron to join the crew. They are still active today and will look to serve on the new lifeboat when it arrives next year.
Whilst Annette couldn't saves lives with her wishes to become an organ donor the family are hoping that with the generosity of the public lives can be saved in a different way.
With her two sons serving on the boat who wouldn't want their mum looking over them on a cold dark night at sea.
