Story
I am very grateful to everyone taking there time to read this story, My daughter Karla is 8 years old & was diagnosed with autism in January 2016.
Physically Karla has hypermobility, proximal femoral anteversion & metatarsus addultus. due to this she gets severe pain in her legs.
Karla has a lower than normal intellectual functioning, this means that although she is 8 she has a mental age of a child starting reception class.
children with autism are prone to having meltdowns especially when there routine is changed or upset in any way. this is the case for karla her anxiety & behaviours escalate if her routine is upset, a sensory room will give her a safe place to go, have her own kind of fun & allow her to be herself.
along with friends & family I am trying to raise money in order to buy specialist sensory equipment for Karla.
the sensory room will not only help Karla's development but also help when she is anxious or frustrated, as this is when Karla's extreme behaviours are at there worst.
we are also in the process of organising fundraising events to help towards the costs.

6 years agoThe sensory room is now complete from the building side, once painting is finished this week we can start putting equipment in the room & Karla will have her safe place, we still need some items to make the room complete, please donate if you can any amount is extremely appreciated. A huge thank you to everyone who has helped us get this far without your help we wouldn’t be as far as we are at this moment in time your all amazing xxx
