Story
Alfie’s Legacy Fund was set up on the year anniversary of his passing 01.12.2017 to help with my grief and to honour his life, with helping other dogs who like Alfie have painful joints. This is my way of giving back to say ‘thank you’ for the love, loyalty and memories that I was honoured to experience from Alfie. The goal is to provide all of the Dogs Trust Centres with these beds. Each year on 17th April (the date I became (Alfies mummy) I cycle 48 miles on a Trike (I have bad joints and half my spine is now fused so a trike is what I can tolerate). This year I set up my Trike on a bike trainer due to covid as I was determined not to let covid-19 stop me from raising money To help as many dogs as I can. These beds are £90 each with a replaceable cover at a cost of £40 so they are not cheap but the wonderful stories the Dogs Trust has relayed back to me on how they are helping, makes them worth every penny.
So on 17th April 2021 I will be back on my Trike at 0500 am but instead of the 48 miles, I am adding the years of being Alfie’s mummy (in life and passing) 15 years, so 63 miles will be the distance (I don’t think my replaced knees will be too chuffed) whether it is on road or if we are on a lockdown again, I will be back set up in my shed!
Every penny counts, I personally cover the delivery costs so that you know your money has helped towards a bed. I do a live feed on facebook on the 17th April starting at 5am, just search for alfies legacy fund.

4 years agoThank you for your amazing donations. After a gruelling 6 hrs of walking and biking I managed 34.97 miles! Sadly my spine and knee just couldn’t take anymore. After my spine surgery, I will be getting myself back out again next year same date (apart from year) 17th April 2022. I will be posting on Alfie’s Legacy Fund Facebook page images once the Dogs Trust have received the beds. Kirsty

4 years agoDue to requiring a complete knee surgery operation and now also spinal surgery, I am going to start the ride on 17th April 2021 but will have to stop when the pain becomes too unbearable. It will take a lot more for me to not even attempt, this yearly event! Thank you for your amazing donations, you are helping so many dogs with their pain management. Kirsty
