We are raising money to support the Bus Project organised by Joanne Vines and her organisation the Rucksack Project.

Joanne wants to see a donated double-decker bus become a homeless shelter for people in Portsmouth and when it is fully refurbished, the bus will have space for 12 beds, a kitchen, showers and toilets.

To raise the cash, members of The News' editorial team will be completing a relay race around the lake at 1000 Lakeside, North Harbour, covering the equivalent distance of a marathon.

Homelessness is an important issue in Portsmouth and one we have supported previously. At Christmas, we launched our Show Them You Care this Christmas campaign to give homeless people in the city a present and show people do care.
