Sofia and her brother rehomed Diva (a 12.2hh pony) from a small rescue centre called the Horse Rescue Fund which is based in Beccles. Diva has very quickly become an important member of the family and for her at least the future looks bright.

Back at the rescue centre however they are having to cancel their annual fundraising events due to the coronavirus and at the moment they are unable to rehome any horses - most people who have had a horse know that they aren't cheap to keep!

Sofia would like to do a bit to help and is proposing a sponsored hack, in the last few weeks she has started riding off the lead rein and so far her longest hack is just over 2 miles - partly as I normally have her siblings in the pushchair when she rides out. For her sponsored hack she is planing on on a route around the next village which will be just over 5 miles and is very excited at the thought of having a picnic with Diva half way round.

Sofias really determine to do this 'on her own' i.e off the lead rein but she is only 5 so will have an adult walking with her the whole time and there may be the odd occasion when for safety's sake we have to intervene and help her (e.g when passing heavy farm machinery)

I appreciate this is hard times and some people have been financially affected by the current crisis - if this is you please don't feel pressured to donate - its important you look after yourself first. However if you do have a spare pound or two we would be very grateful and I know the staff at The Horse Rescue Fund will put it to good use.

In the event of inclement weather the hack may have to be delayed a day or two, however it will still be completed.
