On Sunday 6th November, the Gartland family will be walking from Mayfield Sports Centre at 9:30am to arrive at Oldham St.Annes at 11:40am in memory of Stephen Gartland (my Dad) (Please feel free to join us on the walk). In August this year my Dad took his own life after suffering the silent illness of depression leaving a massive hole in everyone's hearts. For this to happen to such a happy, outgoing and passionate man just shows how powerful depression can be.
All money will go to #ANDYSMANCLUB which is a group where men can go and talk about any issues they are facing. The money will help #ANDYSMANCLUB's to be accessible to men all across the country. It is vitally important that men feel comfortable to talk about their feelings and issues.
The single biggest killer of men aged under 45 is suicide. In 2014 ,4623 took their own life ,that's 12 men everyday ,1 man every 2 hours. 41% of men who contemplated suicide felt they could not talk about their feelings. Only 20% of people know that suicide is the most likely cause of death for men aged under 45 . Let's show men across the world that #ITSOKAYTOTALK
