Story
If you would like to donate to help people less fortunate than yourself, then please donate. We will use the money to provide food and essentials to those in need. If you have something else to offer, please feel free to contact us irish_in_londonhelp@yahoo.com. It costs £1,000 a night for food and care packages so anything you can give will be gratefully received! We are planning on doing this monthly if we can get enough backers.
– 253,000 people in England are homeless and living in temporary accommodation during the pandemic – the highest figure for 14 years
– More than two-thirds (68%) of all homeless people living in temporary accommodation are in London – this equates to 1 every 52 people in the capital
– According to the latest Government figures, collected in the autumn of 2019 and published in February 2020, 4,266 people are estimated to be sleeping rough on a single ‘typical’ night
– Since 2010 the rough sleeping figure has increased by 141%
– In addition to the counts of rough sleepers and the number of homelessness applications, it is thought that 62% of single homeless people are actually ‘hidden homeless’. This means they may be sofa surfing, living in squats or unsecured accommodation and they don’t show up in the Government statistics.
– The most common reason for homelessness is due to relationship breakdown.
– People who are experiencing homelessness continue to face difficulties in accessing mental health services
Let's try and do something to help, even in a small way! We will let you all know where and when we will be heading out.
Go raibh míle maith agat!
