Myself and a collection of other students are fundraising for a three week trip to Malaysia and Borneo in July 2017 through a company called World Challenge. We each have the task of raising £3800.
One week will be spent trekking through rain forest and learning vital leadership, survival and camping skills.
The second week will be spent with a local community, we will live with a host family and will contribute to any improvements to their lives. For example, helping to tile a roof to a new school or planting trees to minimize deforestation.
On the final week, we will immerse ourselves in Malaysian culture by visiting historical cities and participating in new activities.
Overall, the aim of World Challenge is to give young people the chance to learn key life skills such as budgeting, time management and living independently.
