Story
In 4 months time, we will be taking on the 50K South West Coast 2 Coast Ultra Challenge in support of my beautiful cousin, Kira Roberts, to fundraise for her life changing surgery.
After a rowing accident in December 2020, Kira had a variety of hospital admissions with a multitude of symptoms including: viruses, intense pain, nausea and vomiting up to 40 times a day. Many tests came back negative and she later was given a nasal-jejunal feeding tube which she still uses to this day.
Kira's parents, would not give up however, and they went to see a specialist in London who diagnosed her with Elhers-Danlos syndrome and Gastroparesis. Since then, her symptoms have progressed to 2 cases of sepsis from infections, tube feeding difficulties, weight loss, all whilst affecting her mental and physical health. Although Sheffield Hospital has been very supportive throughout this journey, unfortunately due to the complexity of her illness, Gastroparesis surgery is not available through the NHS and needs to be privately funded.
The last time I saw my cousin was in February 2020, celebrating her 21st birthday before being admitted to hospital a few months later. In honour of her strength, I would like to encourage family and friends to donate to the JustGiving page below for my 21st birthday instead of gifts🎉
Kira's loved ones have done an incredible job fundraising to this stage, but there is still a way to go in order for her to undergo this surgery.
If you have some change to spare, please click to donate to Kira's cause and share this page as we undergo 4 months of intense training. We will post regular updates and share Kira's progress here ❤️

1 year agoHello! An update on our recent venture to the Brecon Beacons for Taylor's 21st! We had a great time following the Horseshoe ridge path, starting with a steep 600m climb, across to Corn Du and the highest peak, Pen y Fan. We met some lovely people (and lots of sheep!🐑) on our way and saw some spectacular views. We made our own cairn on Pen y Fan and took the steep decent back down. As we were on the home stretch, I unfortunately rolled my ankle badly and hobbled back to the car, although I'm positive to strengthen up before I resume training 💪

1 year agoA quick update on last week! Jasmine ran the Blenheim 7k on Sunday with a time of 1h 10m and 9s and Taylor supporting on the sideline. 💓⏱️ With an average speed of 6km/h and just a few walking breaks, this was much better than anticipated! 🏁 Coming up this week will be strength training and speed running 🏃♀️ so make sure you keep updated on our Facebook page: 50K for Kira 💟 We have also reached 50% of our fundraising goal! Thank you to everyone who has donated so far. Please share this page to friends and family who may be able to help 🙏

1 year agoWe're now less than 3 months away from the 50K event! 🗓️ This weekend, Taylor and Jasmine went for a hike at Shotover Hill, practicing incline and decline running. They adjusted their pace and strides to manage the elevation to keep going consistently🌳 James has been busy too, with 3 gym sessions, 2 speed sessions, a 9k and a long 16K all in one week! He's definitely on track for the 50K in August.🏃♂️ In June, Jasmine and Taylor will hike up Pen y Fan, the highest peak in the Brecon Beacons (886m above sea level) and we'll keep you updated!
