    Caring for Children’s Health:

    Love Your Body,

    Love Your Mind.

Our headteacher soon embarks on a 1,250 mile bike challenge to raise awareness of the increasing concerns over children’s health in today’s society......Children’s health is increasingly at risk: National data show .....high rates of child obesity...high rates of poor oral health...high rates of diabetes, cancers, heart conditions.

Exercise /keep fit levels consistently dropping, poor diet.....child anxiety, depression, mental health problems at an all time high.

His journey (46 consecutive days)will cover the period of Lent and will involve him travelling North, South,East and West across Hull and the East Riding as well as across the river to Barton, visiting hospitals (Children’s Wards/Units), Sunshine House Children’s Centre,Charities, churches, Leisure Centres and schools.

As well as South to Barton, his travels will include West to North Cave, North to Beverley and East to Withernsea and Hornsea...and all points in between across the City of Hull. Each day, the journey will range between 17-50 miles.

At each destination he will hand over a ‘Gift of Love’ from the family of St Andrew’s.

He is being sponsored and raising funds for the charities listed above but also collecting much needed resources/toys etc for children in Hull Royal Infirmary (various wards/units), Castle Hill (Teenage Cancer Unit), Dove House Hospice (to aid their child support network) and Sunshine House/CAMHs etc.

He will be joined on part of his journey by pupils (and parents) of St Andrew’s who will cycle 10 mile stretches.

During the Summer Term the entire school (over 600 children) will embark on the second stage of this project by also having a sponsored cycle challenge (but shorter distances depending on age of child)

In April,at the end of the 1,250 Challenge, the headteacher will then run a half marathon on Easter Sunday (with a teddy bear on his back) to make an early morning final delivery to Acorn Ward at Hull Royal Infirmary.

Other staff will ,later - on April 19th ,complete 10k/half marathon runs to support the same charities and highlight the family of St Andrew’s passion for our ‘Healthy Bodies/HealthyMinds Crusade’

    Caring for Children’s Health:

    Love Your Body,

    Love Your Mind.

There is nothing more important than a child’s health.

At St Andrew’s we, staff, governors, parents and children unite to raise awareness of one of society’s major problems

We aim to develop our ‘Healthy Bodies,Healthy Minds Crusade’ as our number one priority...Let children be children...We call on all adults in a child’s life to share our passion for raising awareness of the influence modern society can have on the wellbeing of our children through poor diet, lack of exercise, unnecessary pressures and anxiety.

Good habits of healthy living can have long term benefits for the children we adore.
