West Highland Way and Ben Nevis Challenge
June 1 – 7, 2010
Two Friends – One Mission!
We are Danel and Shivam, two friends who have decided to trek the entire 96 miles of the West Highland Way and climb Ben Nevis (4409ft and the rooftop of Britain!) to raise funds for The Paul O´Gorman Leukaemia Research Centre (website)
The challenge will take 7 days and means camping in the wilderness of Scotland. Our aim is to create a heightened understanding of the ground breaking research being undertaken at the centre in developing therapies for treating leukaemia.
Every donation counts as it will contribute towards advancing research on developing therapeutics for treatment of Leukaemia. £15 for example can buy a lab coat, which will protect researchers from dangerous chemicals. Alternatively, the funds can be put towards the purchase of more expensive machinery such as specialised cell freezers (£15,000) and laser cell detectors (£90,000), items which are not usually covered in research grant costs (as provided by Milica Vukovic from the institute).
For more information on any aspect of the campaign or to get involved with the fund-raising please contact Lindsey Donald l.donald@admin.gla.ac.uk or call 0044-141-330 4951.
